A PhD dissertation at the College of Administration and Economics

The College of Administration and Economics at the University of Fallujah discussed a PhD dissertation entitled "Analyzing the Impact of the Currency Sale Window on the Real Trade Balance and its Implications for Some Macroeconomic Variables in Iraq for the Period (2004-2024)" on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, in the Martyr Dr. Khalil Hall at 9:00 AM.
The dissertation was presented by student Yasser Hussein Ali under the supervision of Professor Dr. Nizar Dhiab Assaf's research aims to study the theoretical foundations of the currency auction window and the real trade balance, analyzing the nature of the relationship between them. It also seeks to clarify the theoretical basis for their relationship with the inflation rate, GDP, and foreign reserves, according to the logic of economic theory. Furthermore, it measures the impact of the currency auction window on the real trade balance and its reflection on certain macroeconomic variables, namely inflation, GDP, and foreign reserves.
The discussion committee was chaired by Professor Ali Nabaa Sayel,
and included Professor Muhannad Khalifa Obeid, Professor Khalid Rokan Awad, Assistant Professor Muhannad Khamis Abd, and Assistant Professor Saad Nouri Atallah.
The thesis included several key conclusions, most notably: the results were consistent with the research hypothesis regarding the relationship between foreign currency sales and the real trade balance, the relationship between foreign currency sales and the real trade balance and the inflation rate, and the relationship between foreign currency sales and the real trade balance and foreign reserves. The results also confirmed the hypothesis regarding the relationship between the real trade balance and GDP. However, they contradicted the research hypothesis regarding the relationship between foreign currency sales and GDP.
After a thorough discussion and hearing the student's defense of his thesis, the committee decided to accept the thesis and award the student a doctoral degree with a passing grade. Congratulations to the student and his supervisor!
