Services of the University Counseling Unit
The University Counseling Unit is responsible for a variety of tasks and services, including the following:
- Organizing Periodic Educational Seminars:
Conducting regular seminars to introduce the latest psychological methods in therapy and how to effectively and quickly solve problems. - Developing Informational Brochures:
Creating two informational brochures—one for students and the other for faculty and staff—that clearly outline the counseling process in a productive manner. - Printing Psychological and Educational Awareness Materials:
Printing educational and warning publications about common issues that individuals and staff may face within the university. - Field Visits to Colleges:
Visiting colleges to assess the counseling process and identify any issues affecting students and staff. - Creating an Annual Database of Activities:
Developing a database to track activities organized by the Counseling Unit, which will allow for the identification and description of the most common student issues, considering factors such as academic specialization, gender, and study level. - Establishing Communication with Student Disciplinary Committees and Investigation Councils:
Creating connections with student disciplinary boards, investigation councils, and the Associate Dean for Student Affairs in the colleges to understand the causes and nature of issues, as well as the legal solutions being applied. - Creating Connections with Mental Health Centers and Clinics:
Establishing a relationship with mental health centers for consultations and to refer complex cases that require specialized attention. - Periodic Evaluation of Counseling Activities:
Regularly assessing the activities of assigned counselors in the colleges to ensure effectiveness and quality. - Developing an Online Counseling Platform:
Creating an online platform for consultations via the internet, accessible through a password specific to students.
